Member of the Month: Alyson Lewis
Alyson started at KCI last December and has seen consistent growth and progress ever since. She’s always listening, asking questions, and making sure her technique is sound before adding intensity.
KCI: What is the most satisfying personal goal or milestone you’ve achieved?
AL: My most satisfying personal goal was hitting personal bests in three different lifts all in the same week. It was a special achievement because it reminded me that even with the intensity of medical school, I can still make my health a priority and keep pushing myself physically.
KCI: If someone was nervous about starting CrossFit, what would you tell them? How is KCI different from other gyms you’ve been to?
AL: If someone was nervous about starting CrossFit, I’d reassure them that every workout can be scaled to meet their fitness level, so it’s about starting at your own pace.
What makes KCI special is the community, the coaches and athletes are so encouraging and genuinely want to see each other succeed. Coming from a college athletics background, I really missed the team atmosphere, and at KCI I’ve found that same sense of belonging again.
The Member of the Month Award goes to someone who, very simply, is experiencing fitness results because of their consistency in applying the CrossFit methodology.
Gratitude & Grit Award: Mike Dahm
Mike joined KCI just one month ago! He started giving everyone fist bumps after the workout in his first week and we knew Mike would thrive in our culture.
KCI: What continues to bring you back through the door day after day here at KCI?
MD: I joined CrossFit to be the best version of myself for as long as I can for my little girls.
KCI: What have you found that you are most grateful for since joining our community here at KCI?
MD: I am most grateful for the coaches and community of people that cheer you on and help you succeed.
The monthly Gratitude & Grit Award goes to a KCI member who consistently displays one or more of our Core Values:
Bought In: We genuinely believe in the value of CrossFit
