What do you love most about coaching or CrossFit in general?
I love helping people realize they are capable of more than they believe. I see so much potential in everyone, it makes my day when someone taps into that and surprises themself with achieving something they could’ve never imagined.
What small, consistent habit has made the biggest difference in your own fitness?
My wife and I create a meal plan for the week every Sunday. We’ve been doing that for probably 8 years. We plan our meals for the week, schedule our workouts, and other important activities. It not only helps us prioritize our fitness and food - but it’s time for us to connect.
What do you wish more people understood about CrossFit?
In general, I wish people took a longer view of health and fitness. I firmly believe fitness is an investment like our 401(k) and investment funds. Fitness isn’t an expense or some sort of punishment, or just lifting weights to get bulky. Fitness - and I’m talking about CrossFit’s definition of fitness - helps us live a higher quality of life today and in the decades to come. I wish more people understood that CrossFit is more than a workout. It’s an ethos; a framework to improve our health and fitness for decades.
Outside the gym, what does it mean for you to be “FIT?”
I want to physically be as fit and “capable” as someone 15 or more years younger than myself. Run, jump, play, surf, ride, work, hike; you name it! Being fit is being capable of doing whatever task you want to do – and I want to do a lot!
Come to me if you need help with…
Inside the gym.. Almost everything! But I really love helping people with pull ups and squat technique.
Outside of the gym.. Habits. I’m passionate about helping people achieve a better quality of life by developing healthy habits.
