📰 KCI CrossFit Blog: May Highlights
Member of the Month: Brian Crowder

Brian Crowder has been showing us what it means to stay committed, focused, and goal-driven. As our May Member of the Month, Brian shares the habits and mindset that have helped him make major progress in the gym.
What healthy habits have you been focusing on lately?
“Committing to a routine has been the most important thing for me. I map out every week on my calendar to make sure I fit in time for myself—which is my daily workout.”
What’s a recent accomplishment you’re proud of?
“Hitting a 320 lb back squat! I never thought I was capable of 300, so I was very proud of myself for exceeding that milestone.”
What would you say to someone just starting their journey?
“Commitment is key—not just from yourself, but from your support network too. Let your family and friends know your goals. Their support will help when it gets tough to show up. From there, it’s on you…”
Gratitude and Grit Award: Jessica Schwent

Jessica Schwent has shown tremendous courage, perseverance, and heart—making her the perfect recipient of our Gratitude and Grit Award.
What does being “Bought In” mean to you?
“It means more than just showing up—it’s believing in the values and culture of this place and making them your own. Through a recent back injury, I had to slow down, which was frustrating. But grit meant showing up anyway and choosing long-term healing over short-term ego wins. Gratitude came in realizing this injury actually taught me new ways to stay active for life.”
How have you leaned into Gratitude or Grit in your fitness journey?
“Nick created a plank challenge for me when I couldn’t do regular workouts, and on the day I started, the whole 7:30am class did planks with me. That’s family.”
Can you share a recent moment that made you feel part of the KCI Family?
“Whether it’s people asking how I’m doing, coaches giving custom modifications, or folks joining my plank sessions—I've never felt more supported.”
KCI isn’t just a gym—it’s a team, a family, and a culture we’re proud to build together.
