As we close out the second quarter of the year, I’ve taken some time to reflect on what has stood out in my personal life, in coaching others, and in observing our community. These three lessons kept showing up—and I think they’re worth passing on.
1. Eating to Lose Weight ≠ Eating Healthy
This quarter, I’ve had more and more conversations where this simple but powerful truth kept showing up; just because someone is losing weight does not mean they will be able to keep it off and sustain healthy eating habits.
Maintaining weight loss should be a byproduct of making healthier, sustainable, choices.
How You Can Apply This in Q3:
Get honest with yourself on your eating habits. If you want to lose weight, work on improving your habits, the food choices you make, and then the amount of food you eat. Talk with a coach and get guidance if you've lost and gained weight back.
2. Sleep is King
If there’s one lever that improves everything—energy, mood, workouts, decision-making—it’s sleep. The more I respect my bedtime, optimize my sleep space, and protect my evening routine, the better everything else goes.
Some small changes made a big impact for me: buying a quality pillow, putting my phone in another room, and cutting off water intake 60–90 minutes before bed.
How You Can Apply This in Q3:
If you struggle with having enough energy, ambition, and focus throughout the day, audit your nighttime habits. Pick one change to make in Q3—whether it’s going to bed 30 minutes earlier, keeping your room cooler, or replacing your scrolling time with a book.
3. Be Authentic (and Ask More Questions)
The people I trust most—those who lead well, connect deeply, and inspire me—share one thing in common: they’re honest, curious, and real.
I’ve noticed that when I slow down, ask better questions, and bring my whole self into a conversation (not just the polished parts), everything gets richer—relationships, team dynamics, even my own self-awareness.
How You Can Apply This in Q3:
Make curiosity a daily habit. Pick one relationship (personal or professional) and commit to asking better questions this quarter. Try:
- “What’s been challenging for you lately?”
- “What do you need right now?”
- “What would make this week a win for you?”
Final Thought
Quarterly reflections help us pause and realign. Whether it's dialing in nutrition, prioritizing sleep, or showing up more authentically, one small shift can carry big momentum into the next season.
